my mom reviews Catfish, the movie
With no additional commentary, here she is:
Azi: We just saw the movie: “Catfish.” The guy in the movie looks like you! This movie is the andidote to “The Social Newtwork.” That’s a must see; this is not.

support good journalism
says Carl Paladino, a gubernatorial candidate, who, you could argue, has already done a lot for the industry:
The vast majority of the mainstream media has been completely unfair to Carl Paladino during this campaign. They pick apart his life and his business record, but they rarely cover any of Andrew Cuomo’s many downsides. Perhaps reporters are biased, perhaps they are afraid - but...

Congressman puts his hands on reporter
How to wake people up to the fact you have a race, courtesy of NY22 Rep. Maurice Hinchey.
Reporter Bill Kemble spoke to the Washington Examiner and said Hinchey “put his hand on my throat” and then “realized what he had done and walked away.”

$3 backstage contest
“Please donate $3 or more to be automatically entered to win a trip to Las Vegas to meet me backstage.”
That’s from Obama’s latest fund-raising email to supporters. Insert your joke about his popularity here.

My Mom pins her hopes for me, on Paladino
POLITICO’s Maggie Haberman was a guest on Hardball with Chris Matthews tonight.
My mom saw that, and tried consoling me for not being on the show. She emailed, “Maybe as CarlPalladino continues to be crazy, you’ll be more in demand. Mom”

'being a good father'
At the Columbus Day Parade today in Manhattan, Carl Paladino said of Andrew Cuomo, “I think he’s already displayed his lack of interest maybe in being a good father.”

BloomGov
Bloomberg Government is an information behemoth — a news aggregator, government contract database, Congressional staff directory and source for policy research and analysis all in one Web site.
Does Kevin Sheekey have your attention, again?

Paladino in Williamsburg
Goes one step further than just saying he’d veto a same-sex marriage bill:
“And don’t misquote me as wanting to hurt homosexual people in any way. That would be a dastardly lie. My approach is ‘live and let live.’ I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising and raising a family, and I don’t want them brainwashed...

Teasing a mayor
This joke can only be made of a certain New York City Mayor:
“You probably wouldn’t be interested in the presidency; he only gets two terms.”

the dept. of rejected credentials
Thanks to half a million dollars in political contributions, and generous deals struck with state development agencies, The New York Times doesn’t think Carl Paladino is much of an political outsider: After years of greasing Albany’s gears — and accepting its gifts — it is ludicrous for him to claim to be anything but an insider.

Clearing DiNapoli
The current state comptroller gets some good news, courtesy of this statement from the NYS attorney general’s office:
We have received numerous inquiries from the media asking about the status of current New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. During the investigation, the Office reviewed an investment known as Intermedia, which was approved for investment under then-New York State...
Morris in the Hevesi Case
A finger gets pointed at Hank Morris, who, for a time, a top Democratic political consultant in New York.
From Andrew Cuomo’s press release about Hevesi’s guilty plea:
Hevesi knew that [Hank] Morris had solicited Hevesi campaign contributions from those doing business with the pension fund. Hevesi also admitted knowing that, during his tenure as Comptroller, Morris...

love from the editorial board
of the New York Times, which hasn’t been gentle on Andrew Cuomo. The editorial today does have this one request:
“there are so many legislators with undisclosed and conflicting outside interests that we wish Mr. Cuomo had found the legal methods to go after more of them.”
That, of course, gets into the whole Sheldon Silver issue, which, Cuomo isn’t getting all nasty and...
